Spring 2010

Sunshine and happiness abounds this month now that the snow has melted and the color has returned. People everywhere I go are generally kinder, more chatty and all around happier because of it. I am thankful for that! Too much grumbling causes permanent furrows in the brow and overall too frequent disgruntled encounters.

I hope you have big plans for the coming warmer months as I do! My calendar is jam packed with concerts, weddings, graduations, proms, shopping for college, a couple of getaways and hopefully some quiet evenings on the porch with great friends and good wine.

May I also take this opportunity to introduce you to my latest addition to the services I can provide through Equilibrium Design. Stella and Dot is a fabulous jewelry line that I have gone crazy for, as have so many others. It was created on the West Coast and has taken the celebrity world by storm! It is featured frequently in all the style magazines fashion trend watches and I am happy to be able to bring it to you! Please visit my website at stelladot.com/miriamsjewelrybox to see what the buzz is all about. I will be happy to organize a trunk show at your home. There is no presentation, just fun with friends, a cocktail or two and trying on great accessories! Please call or email if you’d like to host a trunk show. My calendar is filling quickly! For hostesses, there are wonderful free jewelry incentives as well as the option for multiple half price purchases.

If we aren't neighbors, feel free to shop directly from my website. Orders arrive to your home in three days. Great for graduation gifts!

Creatively yours,

On the fashion front there are some interesting additions for your wardrobe for this spring and summer. 80’s retro, which I was sheepishly welcoming a few months ago, is rapidly showing up again in my closet. For other tastes, there’s romantic, rugged and everything in between. For instance:

Asymmetrical detailing, very retro 80’s.
Bib necklaces-beaded and glittery.
Whites and neutrals - shoes, pants, dresses, coats.
Sequins on casual tanks and tees.
Floral dresses and tops, big and bold, soft and delicate... on everything.
The safari look.

Graffiti/Urban décor is popping up everywhere. You’ll find it on fabrics, in paint design, even dishware. Visit the website for Rare 120, a new steakhouse at the Hard Rock Casino in Vegas. Check out the cool fabric on the dining chairs! Subtle graffiti-so chic and quite a statement. Incorporate it into your home in a throw pillow, painted dishware or wine glasses. Very chic.

And speaking of artistic creations, Rico Tiki of beachcrafts.org salvages interesting antique wood pieces from various sources to create the most fabulous custom signs and such. Each individually designed, hand assembled and painted, these are unique one–of–a–kind original pieces of art for your porch, beach house, business and more. The sky’s the limit! Visit the website to learn more. I absolutely love the mailbox and post! Don’t you?

Time to begin weeding thru all the school papers, art projects and dioramas. Save what you must... toss what you don’t need. It can get overwhelming! Purchase a sturdy vinyl artists’ portfolio. They hold tons and can slide under the bed for safe keeping. If you are collecting clay art projects as well, save them and display them. Cluster them together in a grouping on a bookshelf or display table as opposed to sparsely setting them around the house. They will relate well to each other and create an interesting conversation piece for guests. Most definitely don’t throw them out.
